We’ve teamed up with celebrity chef John Torode to espouse the versatility and quality of our delicious locally reared lamb.
The ‘Make it Lamb’ campaign, which runs throughout September and October, highlights the health, environmental and sustainability credentials of locally reared lamb. So when you see the PGI logo on Welsh Lamb, it guarantees you that the meat is of the highest quality. The animal has been born and bred in Wales and produced by farmers who adopt best practices in animal welfare and production methods.
John, a well-known advocate of quality ingredients, helped kick things off during the first week of September for Love Lamb Week. Now in its sixth year, Love Lamb Week is celebrated by lamb lovers nationwide and highlights the sustainable qualities that lamb can bring when planning weekly meals.
John said, “I am delighted to have teamed up with AHDB, QMS and HCC to help the nation celebrate Love Lamb Week. Lamb is the perfect go-to ingredient for a quick, tasty and versatile midweek meal that really packs a flavoursome punch. More than just a delicious meat to go with your roast on a Sunday, you can quickly transform your lamb into a tasty dish for any mood, whether it’s some lamb koftas with tzatziki and flatbreads whilst you’re making the most of the nice weather outside, or some lamb tacos with zatar and pickled onions if you’re looking for a fun twist on the family classic.”
To show his support for the Make it Lamb campaign and to celebrate Welsh Lamb, John has created delicious, quick and simple lamb recipes for you to try:
Crumbed Lamb Cutlets with spring onions and buttered crushed potatoes
Roast Greek Lamb with Orzo & Olives
Spiced Lamb Tacos with Sour Cream and Avocado and pickles
All three recipes can be viewed on our recipe pages, where you’ll also find more delicious and mouth-watering ideas. So, for next week’s meal planning, why not Make it Lamb?
